The AIPP program presents art exhibits that promote local artists of all cultural backgrounds and arts media by displaying their works in a prominent public place, to enhance arts awareness. We have 3 exhibition locations: the Del Norte Courthouse, Del Norte Regional Airport and College of the Redwoods, Del Norte.
DNACA is proud to present the artwork of local artist Susan Moore, to be on view May 14, 2026 through November 5, 2026 at the College of the Redwoods Main Building.
“Life is but a dream. Art is an illusion that is created from the dream and the devil is always in the details.” Susan Moore
Susan Moore is a 5th generation artist born to be what she has become. She is a direct descendant of Alfred Worsley Holdstock. She has both formal education and self-taught knowledge of several forms and techniques of art: Wood and Clay Sculpting, Leather and Beadwork, Textile Design, Leaded and Foil Stain Glass, Commercial Art “Signage.” She has taught painting with acrylic, oil, gouache, and watercolor to both adults and children. She believes art is something you continue to learn throughout your life, and is a lifetime student, always looking for her next inspiration. There is a personal story behind most of her work; something of life’s lessons, emotions, or observances.
Her work is inspired by a privileged meeting of Salvador Dali when he was in San Francisco and an indelible mark left on her by her mentor Trilla Winthers. Susan has stated that she is not a fast painter and that her larger paintings can take her over a year to complete, but she is still efficient in what she accomplishes. Though she suffered a serious spine injury, she is still able to succeed in astounding and amusing, as well as puzzling the public with unexpected metamorphoses of her imagination, as seen in her work. This ability creates a masterfully visual sleight of hand converting ordinary visual facts into something extraordinary with a strong use of symbolism in the pictorial riddles and haunting scenes with philosophical and poetic content. DNACA is proud to present Thomas Cogley's "Impressionist Paintings of the West" to be on view April 9, 2026 through May 28, 2026 at the Del Norte County Airport upstairs in the Mezzanine.
Thomas Cogley is an impressionist painter working primarily in oils
“en plein aire” meaning that he paints in the open air, from life, as
well as in the studio, all reflected in his outdoor landscapes,
gardens, florals and still life’s. Born in Carmel, California to an
artist father, Tom’s exposure to art is lifelong. Art was a common
topic of discussion in the family throughout his formative years.
In 1985, Tom’s parents, opened Cogley Art Center, a full-service
fine art business complete with a gallery, art supplies, and custom
framing. At first, he signed on as framing department manager.
After a year Tom became seriously interested in painting. He
attended an oil painting workshop with John Cunningham of the
Carmel Art Institute. It was a full circle moment because Tom’s
father had studied under Mr. Cunningham in the 1950’s. Tom has
worked with his father, Lloyd Cogley in mosaic, studied with
renowned watercolor artist, Katheryn Davis of Florence, Oregon,
as well as oil painting with Keith Ward.
Current gallery representation: Second Street Gallery, Bandon
Oregon.

DNACA is proud to present a Local Artist Group Show at the Crescent City Courthouse April 9, 2026 through May 28, 2026. This show includes, embroidery, Acrylic, Watercolor and Mixed Media Art Forms by local artists, Patricia Buckelew, Kathy McKenzie-Duncan, Ashley Knowlton and Rose Patchin.

DNACA is proud to present A TRIBUTE TO "KATHY (McKENZIE) DUNCAN"
On View at the Crescent City Courthouse, until April 9th, 2026
Kathy (McKenzie) Duncan is/was a very talented
artist who won numerous awards and ribbons
throughout her career. Her portrait "Gentlemen
" of Nevada" was the cover of the Nevada Day Celebration
Magazine.
Kathy resided in the Northern Nevada area until the 1990s at
which time she relocated to the Southern Oregon Coast. She would
paint on anything she saw that inspired her whether it be rustic tins and
items found in the Nevada desert, furniture, driftwood, buoys, rocks,
and items found at garage sales or at places like Goodwill.
She worked in different mediums such as acrylic, watercolor,
pastel or a combination thereof. She loved painting people and was
able to capture their emotions and character. She especially enjoyed
painting all sorts of animals (too many to mention but some samples
can be seen in this exhibit). She would study and learn all about the
animals she was painting in order to really portray their spirit, humor
and essence.
Kathy had a beautiful heart, soul and had an effervescent personality that
resonates in her artwork. She had a warmth, spirit and charm like no other.
I cannot say enough about my ma's talent. Her work clearly shows her talent. Aside from being a great artist and person, she was, above all else, a fabulous Ma who is greatly missed am proud and honored to share her talent.
Enjoy, Lisa Specchio
